Lions host 89th-annual convention

The Ormond by the Sea Lions Club hosted a convention of 525 Florida Lions this month, in Daytona Beach.

A total of 525 Lions Club members, from multiple Florida and Bahamas clubs throughout District 35, attended the 89th-annual club convention, hosted by the Ormond by the Sea Lions Club, May 2-5, at the Daytona Resort and Conference Center, 2700 N. Atlantic Ave .

Members attended a Conklin Center for the Blind open house, a necrology service, a luau, a general session and an awards banquet.

Joseph Preston, of Arizona, who is the second vice president of the International Association of Lions Clubs, was the event's special guest. Ormond by the Sea’s Pastor Dennis Koch, from Grace Lutheran Church, and Pastor Joseph Kim, from Riverview United Methodist Church, ended the convention with a sunrise service.
