Volusia County history blog up and running

Want to learn more about local history? Denny Bowden has launched a new blog about Volusia County’s past, at volusiahistory.wordpres.com.

The site’s opening post was about Ormond Beach’s Strickland Creek, Thompson Creek and Sanchez Park. On Oct. 29, Bowden covered Ormond Beach’s Ames Park.

Bowden is hoping for residents to log in and add their own information about the history of these spots on the site.

Future topics will include local cemeteries, Native American history and early historical information about Ormond, Holly Hill and other coastal areas.
