Tony Bevacqua and Gonzalo “G” Jaurey have had dreams of owning their own eatery for seven and 14 years respectively. Now, that dream has become a reality with the opening of their restaurant and pizzeria, Giabella.
The goal is to offer high-quality upscale food at an affordable price for the everyday consumer. “I’ve been a consumer my whole life, and I know what it’s like to go out with family and friends and break the bank,” Bevacqua said.
In today’s economy, that’s what they want to avoid. How do they cut down the cost? The business is family-run and the kitchen is churning out all their breads, sauces and stocks from scratch ingrediants.
Jaurey, a third-generation pizza maker, started tossing pies when he was nine-years-old. Now, at 33, he will be amping up the traditional pizza selection at Giabella with specialty pizzas, including stuffed pies, his specialty.
In addition to the classic Italian dishes that Bevacqua believes all American pizzerias should serve, he will be going back to his roots and serving up Southern Italian dishes as well, including made-from-scratch raviolli’s that will occasionally make the specials board. Gluten-free pasta and pizza are also on the menu.
Giabella, located at 260 Cypress Edge Drive, Unit 104, is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Call 597-2828.
Zaxby’s to host drive-thru rezcue
Zaxby’s is partnering with the Flagler Humane Society to host an event 2-5 p.m. Nov. 16, in the parking lot. Tickets are a $10 donation and include a meal.
Other participants of the event are Eden Cross, pet communicator, Bark Busters, Palm Coast Pet Spa, PetSuperMarket, and the The Big Red Bus. Appointments can be made for the blood bus by calling Lisa at 904-586-5401.
