Grace Community Church hosted a free petting zoo Aug. 9 with animals from Noah's Landing.

Though they weren't in pairs of two, the animals of Noah's Landing Petting Zoo and Pony Rides scattered around the grounds of Grace Community Church. The church's free Family Fun Day, held Aug. 9, was aimed to give kids one last hoorah before starting school Aug. 18.

Senior Pastor Erik Dubasak said the theme for this event was inspired by his own family.

"Last year we did an outreach where we went with a bounce house to Rainbow Park," Dubasak said. "But I've got two little girls of my own and so I thought 'what would be fun for them? They would love a petting zoo.' So we just prayed for people to come and it all came together."

Dubasak said he hoped the event would invite more people into their church, located right off West Granada Boulevard, that is also connected to K-8 school Grace Academy.

"We want to reach out to the community," Dubasak said. "We want to let people know that they are welcome to come join us and worship with us but also we just want to have a way to bless people and so this is just a way we decided to do it."
