100 people attended the Ormond Beach Historical Society's Membership Summer Sizzler event.

The Ormond Beach Historical Society said thank you to its 100 members and prospective members that attended its annual Summer Sizzler Event.

Started 10 years ago as a way to show appreciation for its members, the society’s sizzler included food, drinks and raffle prizes.

“Every year we invite all of our members and try to bring them up to speed in terms of what happened the year before and what’s coming up,” Society President Diana Simmons said. “We just want to appreciate those that joined, are joining and that volunteered their efforts for the organization this year. And here at the Anderson Price Building, we celebrate the history of the building of course.”

The society presented information regarding their big upcoming fundraiser events, like the annual Tour of Homes.

“The Tour of Homes is our big one,” Simmons said. “It’s on a Saturday this year. It’s going to be a wonderful event. We have seven homes plus St. James Church that’s going to be in it.”

Simmons said she joined the society due to the excitement members show towards Ormond Beach history.

“A friend invited me to one of their meetings," Simmons said. "I just simply fell in love with the passion and the energy that the organization has in terms of preserving the buildings and history of the rich city of Ormond Beach.”
