Road to Success students have earned another 11 high school-equivalent diplomas in the past three months.
In October, Daniel Morace, Roy Wayne, Alexus Clark, Shellsea Fitzpartick (with Honors), Jessica Troyer, Marcus McCormick, Karis Steward, Tyche Duggans and Linda Smith all took their exams and passed. In December, David Green and Latisha Crooms both took the exam and also passed.
The RTS program has now helped more than 30 students earn their diplomas since opening in September 2012. The program serves young adults, ages 16-21, who have dropped out of high school.
The main component of the program is to help participants with their academics, with the goal of earning a diploma so that they can go on to post-secondary education.
The program meets at the George Washington Carver Community Center, in Bunnell, and is provided year-round. The program is federally funded and is sponsored by the Center of Business Excellence, the Carver Foundation and the Flagler County School Board. All participants must meet federal eligibility requirements, and any student interested should contact Program Manager Brian Willard, at 437-8279, or email [email protected].

Woman’s exchange announces 2014 scholarship opportunities
The Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine, in coordination with St. Johns River State College, has begun its 2014 scholarship-application process. With a mission accented on helping women enhance their economic stability, the Exchange annually offers scholarships to help women return to the workforce.
Scholarships are open to applicants from St. Johns, Clay, Flagler and Putnam Counties. Applications are available online, at SJRstate.edu/foundationpgs/scholarships.html, and the deadline is March 1. Scholarships will be awarded at the Exchange’s May 2014 Annual Meeting.
