An Ormond Beach charity recently raised money to help girls with eating disorders get treatment.

The Ormond Beach-based organization Community Outreach for the Prevention of Eating Disorder, or COPE, recently raised $13,012 toward its scholarship program, which helps people get treatment they otherwise couldn't afford.

COPE, a nonprofit organization, aims to promotes awareness and education about eating disorders to the community. The money was raised during  Celebrate Every Body, an event that included four panelists who told stories of recovery from an eating disorder. The presentations were followed by a yoga class.

The check was presented to COPE's founder and Ormond Beach resident Dr. Karen Samuels.
