Whispering Meadows Ranch held its fifth-annual fall festival Saturday, Nov. 8, at the ranch, which is located on John Anderson Highway in Flagler Beach.

The ranch now has 31 riders in its equine therapy program and has recently expanded its arena with a sponsorship from the Fraternal Order of Police.

For program director Kristine Aguirre, the growth that has been taking place at the ranch is a dream come true.

“I’m really proud to say that people really want to come out and help,” she said adding that Kohl’s Cares, the Anvets Riding Club and Eagle Rock Riding Club joined the Fraternal Order of Police as community supports at the festival.

The community has shown an outpouring of support, but the true reward, Aguirre said, is seeing participants succeed.

“It’s really rewarding for us to see them leave this program having skills and then get job placement,” she said. “Even though it’s not all work skills, it is teamwork and this is a safe environment.”
