Florida Hospital adds telemedicine
Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties have partnered with Advanced ICU Care to provide critically ill patients with telemedicine, in which intensivist physicians monitor ICU patients remotely around the clock in conjunction with the hospital staff.
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association reported that implementation of a telemedicine program was associated with reduced mortality and hospital length of stay, according to a press release, Advanced ICU Care will monitor patients’ vital signs, medications, labs and clinical status and will identify conditions that may require immediate intervention, without having to rely on a staff member to catch those potential threats, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Halifax Health named healthcare provider for Tortugas
Halifax Health has been named the official healthcare provider of the Daytona Tortugas. Halifax Health – Center for Family and Sports Medicine will provide healthcare services to players, families and coaches.
“We serve as the first responders in the day-to-day care of the players and act as a liaison between them and specialists when testing is needed,” said Dr. Roy Lemaster.
Money Pages acquires Web company
Monthly coupon magazine Money Pages, which has a franchise in Ormond Beach, recently acquired myweb refresh, a Web and digital design agency based on Amelia Island.
The design agency will be under the umbrella of the company’s 3D Digital Solutions division, which offers social media services and mobile marketing.
Thrivent members can help Great Kids
Members of Thrivent Financial, a national company with offices in Ormond Beach, can now recommend that a portion of the company’s charitable funds go to Great Kids Explorer Club, a local not-for-profit organization that partners with schools, churches and civic organizations to provide free after-school programming for at-risk and economically disadvantaged elementary school students.
The Thrivent Choice program allows members to recommend how charitable funds are distributed. Nationwide, nearly $55 million in funding was distributed to more than 25,650 enrolled churches and nonprofit organizations through the program in 2014, according to a press release.
“Seeing our members have a say about how charitable dollars are given in their communities is so rewarding,” said Katherine Kyle, financial associate.
