Former Ormond resident named Veteran of the Month

An recently deceased Ormond Beach resident will be featured in the city's Veteran Museum. 

Edwin Fischer, former city resident and career naval aviator commander, is the current Veteran of the Month at the Veterans Museum and Information Center in Ormond Beach. Recently deceased, Cmrd. Fischer flew WWII combat missions off the carrier USS Suwannee in the Pacific, culminating in the largest naval battle of the war, the Battle Of Leyte Gulf.

Among the items on display are photographs of that attack, with Cmrd. Fischer's

F6F Hellcat visible during the enemy strike. The Veterans Museum And Information Center display is located adjacent to the Ormond Beach City Hall Commission Chamber, 22 S. Beach St.
