A 44-year-old resident of 30 Caladium Drive was arrested Nov. 26 on a charge of attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older and elderly abuse. He was identified by police as John Knudsen.
The suspect’s father, also named John Knudsen, came to the Ormond Beach police station on Nov. 26 and said that his son “tasered” him earlier that morning, according to the report.
The victim said he and his son got into an argument a few days before when he told his son he should get a job. He also said his son is the sole heir in his will.
The victim said he got up at two a.m., and his son was in the living room holding two electrical wires. He said his son approached him and touched them to his chest. The wires were connected to an electrical outlet, according to the report.
The victim said he assumed he passed out because he woke up with pain in his head. He showed police a contusion on his head.
He said he talked to his son for an hour to avoid another attack and then went to his bedroom. In the morning, he left the house and went to the police department.
Police traveled to the house and arrested the son and transported him to jail. The scene was processed for evidence. He was being held on a total bond of $70,000.
There will be no garbage collection on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Garbage will be collected on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. The yard waste collection schedule remains unchanged.

The City Commission approved a contract with Halifax Paving Inc. of Ormond Beach, at their meeting on Dec. to provide construction services for Taxiway Golf and electrical improvements at the Ormond Beach Municipal Airport.
The taxiway will run the full length of Runway 17/35, which will allow aircraft to access to the ends of the runways without having to taxi onto an active runway. The new taxiway is also critical to the development of the northwest and southwest quadrants for aviation-use, according to city documents.
The value of the contract is $3,947,414.35, which includes 5 acres of additional line-of-sight clearing for the air traffic control tower.
After FAA and FDOT grants, the city will be responsible for $85,478, which will come out of the airport fund.
