Florida Hospital gives 400 free sports physicals

Student athletes from both Flagler Palm Coast and Matanzas High School received free sports physicals from Florida Hospital Flagler.

The Hospital pulled together a team of 15 physicians, 35 staff volunteers and 20 Daytona State College nursing students to volunteer their time and talents to provide the physicals for the local student athletes, which will allow them to participate in sporting events for the coming school year.

Considering the average cost for a student physical at a walk-In clinic is approximately $30 each, Florida Hospital Flagler provided approximately $12,000 worth of free services to local teenagers with this annual community event.

“I thank Florida Hospital Flagler for their continued support of Flagler Palm Coast High School athletics,” said Steve DeAugustino, the school’s athletic director. “The physicals they provide each year are a huge financial help and lets our student athletes know they live in a community that cares about them.”

“This is a great opportunity given to our kids by a great organization,” added Robert Nocella, Matanzas athletic director. “The staff of Florida Hospital Flagler and their volunteers did such a great job."
