It’s not a rivalry until both teams win. Until recently, Matanzas and FPC women’s soccer had only been a rival in the sense of two county teams, but with a 4-0 decisive victory of the Lady Bulldogs, the Pirates became the latest sports program to beat its crosstown adversary for the first time in its history.
After a scoreless first half, junior star Miracle Porter found the back of the net twice, and Tanagna Payne and Leanna Ballschmieder added the other two.
Both teams are coming off division championships and Elite Eight appearances, and will look to have similar success this season, if not more.
