The Ormond Beach Elks Lodge 2193 hosted its annual Labor Day Cookout Monday afternoon.

The line of people never stopped Monday afternoon at the Ormond Beach Elks Lodge 2193’s annual Labor Day Cookout. With Elaine Schutte holding down the fort of food, she kept the hungry crowds moving with just a few short sentences.

“Hamburgers and hotdogs are comin’,” she shouted to the masses, “and if you don’t see it up here, we don’t have it.”

Though the Elks usually draw a big crowd for their cookouts, Schutte said it’s never been at that full of a capacity before. And only one factor could account to that: free food.

“Everything you see in this room was donated by one of our members,” Schutte said with a subtle smile on her face. “A few guys even went out last night to make that corn hole game.”

While the crowds never seemed to cease for Elaine Schutte, she found a few moments of peace where she could sit back, and smile at the community she was happy to be a part of.
