The Flagler Beach Winery has believed in its excellent wines and food pairings with an ocean view for the past four years. Ken Tarsitano, the owner, had that belief validated recently, winning two double-gold medals for their merlot and allure wines and two silver medals for their syrah and petite verdot by the Florida International Wine Competition.

“We don’t have to be in California to make good wines,” Tarsitano said.

The winery submitted to the competition in February and learned of its winnings via mail in April. “The proof is in the pudding,” said Tarsitano, referring to his wine making and the outcome from the competition.

A panel of judges selected the Flagler Beach Winery's entries from over 1,000 wines. Tarsitano hopes this will put Florida on the map for wine production.

Tarsitano couldn’t be more pleased. He said, “I get to make wine, look at the ocean and sell it to people.”
