Sidelines: Mainland's Huggins decommits from FSU, Adams reaffirms commitment

Following ex-Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher's move to Texas A&M, the Seminoles' 2018 recruiting class has been on the rocks. Mainland defensive back Johnathan Huggins — a four-star cornerback and the No. 63-ranked played in the state of Florida, according to ESPN — announced his decision to decommit from FSU via Twitter. In addition, the Buccaneers' D'Marcus Adams — a four-star wide receiver and the No. 64-ranked player in Florida — reaffirmed his commitment to the Seminoles after it was announced that former Oregon coach Willie Taggart would be FSU's next head coach.

U14 flag football team hosts 'Senior Bowl'

An Ormond 14-and-under recreation flag football team, Ormond Beach Leisure Services, recently hosted its third-annual "Senior Bowl" for five members of the team who are aging out of the league. The game was an exhibition where the players got to play every position, including QB. 

Team White beat Team Red 4-3 on a last possession touchdown pass from Jake Vollinger to Zach Rice. Sarah Mallar was voted game MVP with a touchdown catch, an extra point catch and many other big plays.

After losing to Flagler Palm Coast 77-67 on Nov. 30, the Sandcrabs' boys basketball team improved to 2-1 after a narrow 71-65 win over Pine Ridge on Dec. 1. The girls team dropped to 1-4 on the season after a 41-20 defeat at the hands of Pine Ridge on Dec. 1 and a 75-35 rout by Atlantic on Dec. 5.

Seabreeze boys and girls soccer pick up wins

After a draw against New Smyrna Beach on Nov. 27, the Sandcrabs' boys soccer team (5-0-2) has won its last two games. Meanwhile, the girls' team improved to 7-2.

Bucs boys soccer wins first game, girls drop to 2-5

The Buccaneers' boys soccer team (1-4-1) won its first game of the year in a 5-2 match over Deltona on Dec. 1. The girls team defeated New Smyrna Beach 4-2 on Nov. 30 but lost to Flagler Palm Coast 8-0 on Dec. 5.
