Sidelines: Hawks' girls cross country team qualifies for state meet

The Spruce Creek girls cross country team placed fifth in the 4A Region 1 meet on Friday, Nov. 3, at the Flagler County Fairgrounds. The Hawks (150), who had one runner in the top 10, finished with an average time of 20:24.

6th Camryn Cooney, 18:52.99

20th Samantha Gayton, 20:01.84

36th Katelyn Murray, 20:46.37

55th Bailey Nelson, 21:09.81

58th Haley Rodriguez, 21:12.38

With the finish, the Hawks qualified for the state meet in Tallahassee on Nov. 11.

Atlantic boys cross country finishes fourth in regional

The Sharks' boys cross country team competed in the 2A Region 2 meet on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Atlantic High School. The Sharks finished in fourth place with an average time of 17:49 for the 5,000-meter race. Atlantic (124 points) was edged out by Tavares (92) and Lake Highland (67 points). Trinity Prep (34 points) took first with an average time of 16:37.
