The couple traveled around Florida on their motorcycle, 2,000 miles, to find just the right place to settle in the state. In Ormond Beach, they had a gut feeling they found their new home.
“Ormond Beach just resonated,” Carl Seaver said recently.
Seaver and his wife, Shannon MacDonald, both believe in the power of intuition in making decisions, and it’s one of the subjects at Karma Castle, which they opened last summer at 1437, N. U.S. 1, Suite C8.
They traveled from Oregon, seeking warmer climes.
“Follow your heart and live your dream,” MacDonald said, about the power of intuition.
The Karma Castle is a center designed for psychic, mediumship or intuitive development; and spiritual awareness. It’s for anyone who is on a path of personal or spiritual growth, and wishing to move beyond their perceived capabilities, their website states.
Seaver said people are often curious about experiences they have had, and come to the Karma Castle to learn about them. For example, a person may have the feeling they should call someone, and when they finally call, they find the person wanted to talk to them. Seaver said they have various exercises, which are challenging but fun, to explore psychic capabilities. They have group classes as well as individual classes.
Other offerings include psychic readings, mediumship sessions, spiritual healings, guided meditations, psychic questions; etc.
The word “karma” is often heard, but Seaver said the popular notion that it includes a punishment for bad behavior is a misconception.
“It’s the sum of your behavior and energies,” he said. “It’s who you are. It’s a wonderful, empowering word.”
A psychic and a medium, Seaver said anyone can expand their capabilities. After discovering his own ability, he had years of training with psychics and mediums.
MacDonald is a spiritual healer and reiki master. With over 25 years of experience as a registered nurse, she facilitates spiritual healing sessions and guided meditations across the country and locally.
One key to their message is for people to look inward in finding peace and happiness. A saying written on their wall says, “All truth, all knowledge, and all loving must first be found within oneself.”
“If you can’t find happiness within yourself, you’ll spend a lifetime looking for it in something else,” Seaver said.

REALTORS ELECT OFFICERS
The Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors had their 96th annual Installation and Awards Banquet on Dec. 6 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach.
Officers sworn in included: Bill Navarra, president, and Harold Briley, president-elect, both of Ormond Beach; Alisa Rogers, vice-president; and Debbie Callahan, past president.
LOWES AIDS SCHOOLCHILDREN
Lowe’s Home Improvement, of Ormond Beach, gave a $5,000 grant to Osceola Elementary School for their Math and Movement Family Fun Night on Nov. 29. Ten Lowes employees volunteered at the event.
The Math and Movement program is based on research that shows moving while learning develops muscle memory and promotes healthy lifestyles, according to a press release from the national organization.

TOYS SOUGHT FOR KIDS
Donated toys and gift cards are needed for children and older kids by the Jewish Federation of Volusia Flagler. Children off all faiths receive the toys at their Christmas event on Dec. 20 and afterward when picking up food. Gloria Max, executive director, said gift cards are needed so that teens can also receive a gift. She said it would also be nice to be able to give gift cards to seniors in need.
They will be accepted until the end of the year. Cards can be mailed or dropped off at the federation office, 470 Andalusia Ave., Ormond Beach 32174. Call 672-0294. If person wants, their name can be included on a list of donors. "We like to give credit," Max said.
