Port Orange police pull dead body from Halifax River

An on-going investigation is being held for the man found floating in the Halifax River.

The Port Orange Police Department was notified of a possible body floating in the Halifax River at around 11 a.m. Sunday, April 28. Responding officers found a male approximately 100 feet from the shoreline. 

With the assistance of the Volusia County Beach Safety, Port Orange detectives were able to retrieve the body. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, April 29, according to the press release. 

At this time, the identity of the body is being withheld, pending the notification of family.
