A 16-year-old female student from Matanzas High School was arrested and charged with written threats to kill on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 20, after she allegedly posted on Snapchat, stating her intent to shoot other students that she felt had been bullying her, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

A third party reported to school staff and the school resource deputy that the post was circulated on social media. FCSO obtained a screenshot of the post and conducted interviews with witnesses and the defendant separately.

The post was a selfie of the student with a common Snapchat filter used to alter minor facial images. A caption attached to the picture stated: "Stupid a-- b---es know I'll shot them in the f---ing head with a 12 gauge shot gun."

The student was arrested and taken to the Flagler County Jail and was eventually turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

It was the third juvenile arrest for making threats in the past eight days.

“We cannot stress the fact enough that making a threat will be taken seriously in Flagler County as we have a zero tolerance policy," Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release. "Whether you think it is a joke or not, making a threat is a crime with serious consequences. Parents, talk to your children – now! If your child is being bullied either you or your child should immediately report it to a school official.”
