A 55-year-old Palm Coast woman died Nov. 28 after she walked into the southbound lanes of US 1 south of Royal Palms Parkway and was struck by a car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The car that struck the pedestrian was a sedan driven by a 33-year-old Palatka woman, who was uninjured.

It was not clear why the pedestrian walked in front of the car, the FHP report states, except that she may have been trying to cross the street.
