The Flagler County department of Land Management and the department of Parks and Recreation will be working together Dec. 7 - 11 to clear the underbrush around the parking lot of Graham Swamp Preserve at the Old Kings Road trailhead. The parking lot will be closed for the duration of the work.

“We need to temporarily close the parking lot for public safety,” said Environmental Projects Supervisor Mike Lagasse. “There are some leaning and potentially hazardous trees that need to be removed along with the underbrush around the pond and along the southern edge of the trail.”

Graham Swamp Trail is located between Colbert Lane and Old Kings Road. It can still be accessed from the entrance located at 5135 Colbert Lane.

“We wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving to begin the work, and be finished before Christmas,” Lagasse said. “We want everyone to be safe in the meantime, and have this park available during their holiday time off.”

Questions should be directed to Lagasse at 386-313-4064.
