Volusia Live will be offered for students this upcoming spring semester, announced Volusia County Schools on Monday afternoon.

The announcement came after the updated emergency order was announced by Gov. Ron DeSantis, which includes a provision requiring school districts to notify parents if their student is struggling academically while learning virtually, something VCS is already doing, according to a press release. Virtual students who are not making adequate academic progress may be returned to in-person instruction at a brick-and-mortar school unless their parent affirmatively decides to continue their child's education virtually.

Aside from Volusia Live, students can also choose Volusia Online Learning for the second semester, or return to a traditional classroom.

VCS stated thousands of students returned to brick-and-mortar after a mid-term evaluation of grades earlier this month. Currently, about 75% of students are enrolled in a traditional classroom, 15% in Volusia Live and 10% in Volusia Online Learning.
