Open letter to Mayor Partington and Commissioner Kent

Dear Editor:

The proposed east-west runway extension continues to raise public opposition as more and more Ormond Beach residents become aware of this project and its negative impacts.

In 2004, both Bill Partington and Troy Kent were city commissioners when citizens packed city hall to voice opposition to a proposed north-south runway extension. That night, they withdrew their support of the runway extension and joined a 5-0 vote to abandon the project. Why?

Partington and Kent, please explain why you now support airport runway extensions when public opposition has not changed.
