On the evening of July 4, 2021, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about several bullets being fired into a residence on Bridgehaven Drive. The occupants, including five adults and two young children, advised they were sitting on their back lanai when the projectiles shattered a window above their heads.

The victims advised they were sitting around a table on the back patio when the light from the ceiling fan above was shattered. The glass from the ceiling light globe struck one person on the patio. The victims also reported a shattered window as well as holes in the porch screen, lanai framing, and in a wall inside the residence. It was determined that a total of four rounds struck the residence.

The FCSO Major Case Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the residence and were quickly able to trace the trajectory of the rounds coming from the area of 97 Bressler Lane. A search warrant was obtained for 97 Bressler Lane, where they identified Jamal “Jay” Kariem Ne Jame as the homeowner.

A search warrant of 97 Bressler Lane was served and conducted on July 5 by FCSO detectives and SWAT. During the search, five 9mm casings were recovered in the backyard, and 15 firearms were seized from the residence. The firearms, casings, and recovered projectiles were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Crime Lab. It was discovered that Ne Jame is a Florida licensed security officer performing both armed and unarmed security.

The FDLE Crime Lab successfully linked one of the firearms and shell casings recovered from 97 Bressler Lane to a projectile recovered from the victim’s residence. On July 22, 2021, FCSO Major Case Detective Gordon was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Ne Jame.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 22, 2021, utilizing the FCSO Real Time Crime Center tracking technology, the General Assignment Unit, PACE, Major Case Unit, CPD, SWAT, and K9 Units were able to successfully conduct a high-risk traffic stop on US-1 and Matanzas Woods Parkway. Ne Jame complied with deputies commands and was secured without incident. At the time of his arrest, Ne Jame was in possession of a replica firearm and multiple empty magazines from a firearm.

“This guy lost his freedom and could have killed multiple people with his dangerous actions celebrating July 4th,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Our Major Case detectives and CSI Unit did a remarkable job canvassing the area and gathering evidence to solve this case. The apprehension of this subject was conducted in a well-planned operation and I’m glad no one was hurt. I commend all the deputies involved.”

Jamal Kariem Ne Jame was arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He was charged with Shooting Into Dwelling and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
