Volusia County Schools' senior graduates will receive up to four tickets to their graduation ceremonies, announced the county and the school district in a joint press release on Monday, March 22.

The release states that, at the request of the district, the capacity restrictions at the Ocean Center will be eased to accommodate higher attendance. This decision is said to have been made after considering the health and safety guidelines. Previously, high school seniors were limited to only two tickets for their family members, and parents and students rallied to ask the district and county for an increase.

Seating will be offered in pods of four, with 3 feet or more between groups.

"The Ocean Center recognizes the accomplishments of graduating students and is committed to providing the honor these events deserve, while also balancing the health and safety of all in attendance" said Ocean Center Director Tim Riddle in the press release. "As such, the facility has adjusted seating arrangements to allow for increased attendance, while also maintaining social distancing to the maximum extent possible. To further ensure the safety of all guests, we continue to require face masks be worn inside the facility."

Graduation ceremonies will be held June 3-6. All graduates and guests will be required to wear face covering and to practice social distancing. Details on ticket sales will be announced at high schools in the coming weeks, and like last year, the ceremonies will be livestreamed to allow more family members to watch remotely, the press release states.
