A planned 300-unit apartment complex off Pine Lakes Parkway called Pointe Grand will bring the school district 24 more elementary schoolers and 14 more high schoolers than the district's schools have space for, so the developer will pay the district to offset that impact.

The owner, Hillpointe LLC, will pay the Flagler County school district $2,626.27 per unit for a total of $787,882, school district Coordinator of Planning and Intergovernmental Relations Patricia Bott said during a March 23 School Board workshop.

The district recently revamped its mitigation policies so that they're consistent, she said.

"Everything will be standardized from here forward for all mitigations," she said.

The developer will pay $236,365 within 60 days of final plat approval, according to the agreement with the school district, then two disbursements of $196,970 each in 2022 and a single payment of $157,577 in June 2023.

School Board member Colleen Conklin asked if the money could be used to build a future school.

It could, Bott replied, as long as the school is in the concurrency service area for the development, or in an adjacent one.
