When did you arrive in the area? What brought you here? I arrived in the area in 2019. I was visiting my sister who recently located here at the time. I checked out the area while visiting, and thought it had a lot of potential. I’ve worked in areas that were similar and done well. So I started putting plans together to investing in the area.

What is new in your business? I recently purchased a building in Daytona Beach that was a hair spa. I decided to cleanup the hair station side and reopen as a Salon Suite. I thought it would be a great opportunity for licensed beauticians or barbers to run their own business with very little overhead. In the unit next door, I’m looking at opening an e-bike rentals and sales. I think it's a great location for it with the beginning of Beach Street behind me to ride on going towards Daytona Historical Downtown. I also sell a law enforcement version, which is a top seller for the brand I carry. I'm hoping my first customer will be Daytona Beach Police.

What is the best business advice you have received, and how did it impact you? Keep an open mind, take in the good and the bad, and take care of your customers. The advice helped me tremendously. Even though it’s hard work, it does pay off if you are willing to commit yourself to always being on the clock. I have a lot of ideas about expansion and growth, but keeping my ears open to other possible suggestions has served me well. I love when I see a suggestion box at a place of business, it’s always good to hear from the public on how you can improve.

What have been the biggest obstacles to opening or running your business? How have you overcome them? My biggest obstacle in starting my business was figuring out how I would get the capitol and financing to start up. I started when I was twenty-six years old by borrowing over $100k. Failure was not an option — I took the word out of my vocabulary. My success came from working hard, surrounding myself with other successful business people, feeding off the knowledge they gave, staying away from the negative, learning, and taking care of my customers.
