Ormond Beach restaurants to donate 15% during the Givebacks for Education Holiday Weekend of Giving

Editor's note: Though the 15% initiative has now concluded, the Givebacks for Education initiative remains active.

Givebacks, Kiwanis READS!, and the city of Ormond Beach have joined forces with dozens of local restaurants in a campaign to support Ormond Beach schools and nonprofit organizations.

Participating merchants make donations through this program, named Givebacks, Dine to Donate, and Shop to Give. Givebacks allows anyone to score donations to their child's school or favorite cause while dining at participating local restaurants and shopping online at thousands of retailers.

Givebacks for Education aims to help Volusia County schools and nonprofits earn over $100,000 by the end of 2024. To celebrate the holidays and the success of the campaign’s launch in Ormond Beach, Givebacks for Education restaurant partners will donate 15% starting Friday, Dec. 8, and ending at midnight, Dec. 10.

“We couldn't be more excited about the Givebacks for Education campaign," said Dillon Kalkhurst, Givebacks founding team member and Ormond Beach resident. "Since our September kickoff, our schools have signed up over a thousand supporters; we call backers. As a token of our appreciation for our Givebacks schools and backers, we are boosting donations around the Ormond Beach Christmas parade to 15%, three times the standard 5%. Families can dine in or take out from any of our caring restaurant partners before or after the parade. We even decided to add in Friday and Sunday and make it a Holiday Weekend of Giving.’

Restaurants participating in the Givebacks for Education Holiday Weekend of Giving on or near the parade route include: Grind and Kona Tiki Bar, Ormond Garage, 31 Supper Club, Fugu Sushi, Pump House BBQ, Lulu's Oceanside Grill, Larry's Giant Subs, Fletcher's Irish Pub, Rosie’s Cafe, Solberry, TGI Fridays, Kava Kula, Greektown Taverna, Neighborhood Scoop and Ledo Pizza.

To further increase the holiday giving, Givebacks is also boosting donations to 20% this month when backers shop online at Chewy, Lowe’s, Dicks Sporting Goods, Shop Disney, StubHub and giftcards.com.
