Frank Margiotta enlisted in the Army amid the Vietnam War. After boot camp and military police training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, Margiotta was briefly assigned to Fort Gordon, Georgia, before being shipped to the Republic of Vietnam.

As a military policeman, his duties were keeping the peace among service members, guarding ammunition supply depots and occasionally prisoner detention in the Cam Ranh Bay area. Upon his honorable discharge, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device.

Margiotta settled in South Florida in 1972 after discharge and worked as a service technician and lineman for Bell South for 30 years. He retired to Palm Coast with his wife Connie and son Frankie Jr. in 2003. Margiotta is a motorsport enthusiast and amateur wildlife photographer of Florida native species. He loves animals, especially dogs.
