At 9 and 7 years old, Finn and Oakley Maloney can say the've been on the big screen.

The two local children will appear in "SunCoast" alongside movie stars Nico Parker, Woody Harrelson and Laura Linney. The movie tells the coming-of-age story of a teenager living with her mother who has to take her brother to a specialized facility.

The movie premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in January and will be released on Hulu on Feb. 9.

Finn said he loved being a part of the movie.

"I did a moonwalk and it was actually like, super duper cool," Finn said.

He's been acting since he was 2 years old and said he likes the excitement that comes with getting an audition or call back.

When he told his friends at school that he was going to be in a movie, he said they didn't believe him.

"They said, 'No way, no way. That's not real. Stop joking around, Finn,'" he recalled.

His mother, Larissa Maloney, a Seabreeze High School grad and Ormond native, said it was a proud experience for her. She coaches them for their auditions and to have both of her children be in a movie together — and play siblings — was exciting, she said.

"To be there on set together and to be able to perform together, it was so special," Maloney said.

The movie was shot in 2022. Maloney said that she got the call that her kids had gotten the part while they were in school.

"I was just over the moon, so excited, and then I had to wait like two hours before school was out," Maloney said.

Oakley said she was "so surprised and so happy" to get the part of Young Doris.

"Before we did the shoot, I had butterflies in my belly," she said.

Because the movie is rated R, the Maloney family, who lives in Daytona Beach, will be doing an at-home premiere party, Maloney said.

"We'll do a little red carpet thing at home so they can get the full experience," she said.
