This weekend, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols watching for impaired and aggressive drivers, and to reduce and prevent crime opportunities.

As the nation’s most-watched sporting event, each year the Super Bowl draws fans out to celebrate. Whether they’re rooting for their favorite team or just watching the commercials, people typically gather at house parties or sports bars to watch. Wherever you choose to cheer from, Sheriff Rick Staly warns drivers to make a plan to get home safely before heading out if you plan to drink alcohol.

“We want to ensure everyone enjoys a fun and safe Superbowl Weekend,” said Sheriff Staly. “But know if you choose to drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the only bars you’ll be seeing are at the Green Roof Inn, and you can’t watch the rest of the game from our Inn.”

These additional patrols are part of the Crash Awareness & Reduction Effort (CARE) Patrol Operation, a multi-jurisdictional effort where FCSO joins other law enforcement agencies across the country to increase law enforcement presence on Interstates, Highways and other roadways that are known areas for high-crash and aggressive drivers.
