The Ormond Beach Police Department is providing owners of eligible Hyundai and Kia vehicles with a free steering wheel lock due to a social media trend.

The trend, known as the "Kia Boyz Challenge," surrounds teenagers stealing specific Hyundai and Kia vehicles and posting the theft on social media. To receive a lock, vehicle owners must present a valid vehicle registration for one of the affected models and provide a proof of residency, according to a flyer by OBPD.

The following vehicles are affected by the trend:

  • 2017-2021 Hyundai Elantras
  • 2015-2019 Hyundai Sonatas
  • 2020-2021 Hyundai Venues
  • 2012-2022 Kia Sportages
  • 2011-2021 Kia Optimas
  • 2011-2021 Kia Sorentos
  • 2011-2021 Kia Souls

Affected vehicle owners should call 386-676-3599 or email [email protected].
