A mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Patrick Joseph Donnelly, age 78, of Palm Coast, FL, who passed away on December 17, 2023, will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The family will be receiving guests before mass in the memorial room of the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Patrick will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
Patrick was born on March 17, 1945, in Queens, New York to the late Thomas Donnelly and Helen (Antons) Donnelly. Patrick enlisted into the United States Navy in September of 1963. He attended Navy Nuclear Power School and served on the USS Atule (SS/AGSS-403), USS Nathanael Greene (SSBN 636), and USS Nautilus (SSN571). After serving seven years, Patrick was honorably discharged in October of 1970.
On July 15, 1968, he married the love of his life Patricia (McGovern) Donnelly in Charleston, South Carolina. Patrick worked at Vermont Yankee/Yankee Atomic for 28 years from 1971 until 1999. In 1999, he took a job at Byron Station until he retired in 2004 and moved to Palm Coast, Florida.
Patrick was a member of the VFW Post 8696 serving as both Commander and Quartermaster, and a United States Navy Submarine Veteran. He was a beer enthusiast, loved to golf (from the trees or the rough), go bowling and fall asleep watching westerns.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia Donnelly; daughter, Meghan Lundy and her partner Richard Swenson; sons, Brian Donnelly and his partner Tracy Ives, Kevin Donnelly and his wife Maura Donnelly; sisters, Barbara Tanzer (Stephen), Marie Phillips (Vince), Elizabeth Janowiak (Greg), Helen Nesbitt (Charles); brothers, John Donnelly (Carol), Tom Donnelly (Janet), James Donnelly (Bethany), Joseph Donnelly (Kelly); grandchildren, Lucy Donnelly, Gillian Lundy, Abigail Donnelly, Amelia Donnelly, Cecilia Donnelly, Dane Lundy, Ryker Swenson, Rayce Swenson.
Patrick is preceded in death by his sister, Susan Fowler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patrick’s name to Carousel Ranch, Autism Service Dogs of America or US Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundations.
