Palm Coast representatives advocate for state funding for major city infrastructure projects

The 2024 state legislative session is in progress and Palm Coast representatives were in Tallahassee to advocate city priority projects.

Palm Coast Mayor David Alfin, City Manager Denise Bevan and Chief of Staff Jason DeLorenzo were consulting with Palm Coast’s representatives from Jan. 25 to Jan. 30. Alfin said they were there advocating primarily for infrastructure projects “above and beyond” what the city could afford to do on its own.

“This trip is the culmination of many … months of preparation in terms of designing programs and authoring appropriation requests,” he said. “It's a significant lobbying effort on behalf of our residents in the city of Palm Coast.”

Alfin said this session has a particular focus on land conservation and the Palm Coast was trying to take advantage of that to ensure conservation land is protected in perpetuity.

Palm Coast is hoping to receive appropriations funding for multiple water and wastewater capital improvement projects, the Palm Coast Operations Center and several road improvement projects, like the Old Kings Road expansion and a loop road extension to Matanzas Woods Parkway.
