Becky’s Gifts and More reaches one-year anniversary
After about 10 months in business, Becky Cook moved her store, Becky’s Gifts and More, from 1360 N. U.S. 1 down the road, to 407 N. U.S. 1, in the Melrose Plaza. It was a strategic move, she says, to be positioned somewhere more centralized, to get more traffic. She also added new inventory to the shop.
To accompany specialty items like candles on a rope, handbags that look like bras, armed services greeting cards and Chantilly Lane singing and dancing teddy bears, Cook recently brought in post-war collectible Lionel trains.
The gift shop will celebrate its one-year anniversary in Ormond Sept. 13.

Sandler, Piazza named new hospital directors
Florida Hospitals Oceanside and Memorial Medical Center have seen a few recent managerial shifts.
With almost 25 years of experience, Ormond Beach resident Amy Sandler has been made the new marketing director for both facilities.
Another Ormond Beach resident, Jill Piazza has been named the new Regional Director of Health and Performance.
“Healthcare has begun shifting its focus towards wellness and prevention, instead of waiting until people are battling chronic illness,” says Piazza, who has been with Florida Hospital for almost a decade. A physical therapist by training, she previously served as the Florida Hospital DeLand Director of Sports Medicine/Rehab/Wellness.
Florida Hospital Oceanside also hosted, Sept. 12, a Honey Market, to raise funds for the hospital’s Food and Nutrition Services department and to support local charities.
“Most of the honey sold in stores has been heated and pasteurized, which destroys many of the enzymes and beneficial compounds that make raw honey so nutritious,” said Shawn Noseworthy, nutrition director at the hospital.
