Athletes of all ages participated in a 5K race last weekend, Nov. 11, at Destination Daytona, to support the Red Devils youth basketball program.
“The purpose of this 5K event is to raise money for children who can’t afford to join,” said Angelika Grubel, race organizer.
Veronica Dozier, mother of two 5K runners, described the Red Devils as “a place of belonging and mentorship. Children need to feel they are a part of something, (and) the Red Devils Basketball program gives them the opportunity to get united with the community”.
The fundraiser aimed to raise at least $5,000.
