The Ormond Beach Police Department received a report Sept 12 of two suspicious persons approaching a child traveling to school shortly after 7 a.m. that morning.
The child was travelling on a bicycle on North Ridgewood Avenue toward an elementary school when two males allegedly tried to contact the child and lure the child toward their vehicle, according to a press release from police. The child did not approach the suspects and continued bicycling toward the school.
The child was allegedly followed by the same suspects until the child approached the area of the school, at which point the suspects turned around and left the area. The child attended school and returned home safely after classes ended later in the day. The incident was reported to OBPD at 3:56 p.m.
The suspects are described as two light-skinned, white males; 40 to 45 years old; both with short, shaved hair (or bald) and not wearing shirts.
Their vehicle is described by the child as an older, “square-like” single-cab truck, light blue in color. When shown truck models, the child pointed to a truck similar to a 1990 Ford F-150 truck.
The public is urged to remain aware of this situation and report any similar activity to 911 immediately.
