Nearly 40 pieces of art are in the running for the Ocean Air Art Prize.
The goal of the Ormond Beach Arts District is to bring more art to the city — especially in places where you least expect it.
That's why the district, along with Ormond Beach MainStreet and the Florida Women’s Art Association created the Ocean Air Art Prize, a juried show featuring 39 paintings from 20 different Florida artists. Rather go to a gallery or museum to see the pieces, the art will be displayed in 15 different stores and offices in downtown Ormond Beach.
"It's the perfect combination of things for Ormond," said Mainstreet Executive Director Julia Truilo. "We have a really strong community of artist that I don't think people are aware of, and we have a lovely downtown that we're trying to get more people involved in. So it's showcasing both of those things."
Prizes will be awarded to the top three pieces of art — first place earning $500 — and a people's choice award will also be given. The art will be on display until Jan. 22, and people can vote online at ormondbeachmainstreet.com/ocean_air.
