Students at Ormond Beach Elementary dressed as indians and said what they were thankful for a few days before Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving arrived a little earlier at Ormond Beach Elementary.
First-grade students commemorated the holiday by stepping up to a microphone and saying what they were thankful for in presence of their teachers and parents. Some notable answers included family, the world, Ormond Beach Elementary and one student said he was thankful for his dirt bike. Afterward, the students sat onstage and ate several traditional Thanksgiving dishes together, including stuffing, mash potatoes and pumpkin pie.
This was the fifth year of the celebration at the school, spearheaded by first-grade teacher Megan McMahon. The school's auditorium was decorated for the occasion, with their art sprinkled throughout the placemats, table cloths and projects on the wall.
