Happy Valentine's Day: Daddies, daughters dance the night away
A small turnout didn’t put a damper on the night for local daddies and daughters last weekend, at the city’s first Daddy Daughter Valentine Dance.
There might not have been a great turnout Saturday, Feb. 9, for the city of Ormond Beach’s first Daddy Daughter Valentine Dance, but those in attendance didn’t seem to mind.
Decked out in suits and sparkly dresses, fathers and daughters slow danced and swirled, walked the Congo line and did the “Chicken Dance.” It wasn't a packed house at the Nova Community Center, 440 N. Nova Road, but for those daddies and daughters on the dance floor, one thing was for sure: It was fun.
The dance, for fathers with daughters 3-12 years old, was attended by about 30 daddies and daughters, according to Lori Koplin, the city’s community center and special populations division coordinator.
The night before, at the city’s A Sweet Night Valentine Dance for People with Special Needs, about 175 people attended.
