- Father Lopez's boys and girls cross country teams each qualified for the FHSAA Cross Country State Championship, held on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. The girls team placed third at the regional meet, and the boys team placed seventh. Samantha Gayton led the girls with a seventh-place finish with a time of 20:03.26. It’s the seventh-straight year that both of the Green Waves' teams have qualified for the state meet.
Madelyn Bronson was the top runner for Mainland's girls country team, which competed in the regional meet on Saturday, Nov. 2. She took 21st place with a time of 21:07.39. Grace Hawryluk finished 33rd with a time of 21:26.19.
Nickole Dane was the top finisher for Seabreeze's girls cross country team in the regional meet. Dane placed 23rd with a time of 21:10.59. Seth Augustynowski was the top finisher for the Sandcrabs' boys team, placing 67th with a time of 18:13.83.
Former Seabreeze football player Samuel Hayworth went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts in Easter Kentucky's 28-21 overtime loss to Austin Peay on Saturday. Hayworth also connected on a 33-yard field goal — his longest of the game.
Father Lopez's Lisa Colee tied for eighth place at the Class 1A FHSAA Girls Golf State Championship Nov. 2 at Mission Inn with a 1-under 143. It was her second-straight top-10 finish at states.
