Each were given a shovel to pack in the dirt surrounding the sapling. The tree was donated by Yellowstone Landscape, formerly known as Austin Outdoor.
Planting a tree in Ormond Beach, for Florida’s Arbor Day, has been an ongoing tradition for over a decade. This year also marks the City’s 25th-anniversary as a Tree City USA member. As a member, the city is committed to planting plenty of trees to enhance the beauty of Ormond Beach and acknowledge the importance of this natural resource.
According to Paul MacDonald, the live oak was chosen because it is an evergreen tree and the species has a long lifespan. When fully grown, the tree will reach almost 50 feet, with branches extending in an 80 foot diameter, providing a habitat for wildlife and a shady place to rest in Central Park.
