The Ormond Beach Observer sat down with 10 local kids to talk about their upcoming show. Prepare to "awww."
Second-grader Elias Johansson seemingly put a lot of thought behind his collage piece titled "The Bridge, Noah's Ark and the Titanic." Not only is the piece versatile — according to the 8 year old, you can hang it in every direction and it will still look good — but it also comes with a thoughtful artists statement:
"I love the way that It can be all of these things. I was planning on matching the Swedish flag, but I didn't."
When pressed for more details about his artistic project, the future Picasso just shrugged and said, "Basically I just put lines everywhere, and it came out looking like that."
Johansson's work will be hanging with over 70 other pieces of art from the 12 Volusia County schools participating in the Elementary Art Exhibit. For Osceola Elementary Art Teacher Melanie Interdonato, picking out the students work was difficult.
"I have 400 something students," she smiled. "And they are all so talented."
