Devon Spicer hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to spark Seabreeze's rally attempt.
The Sandcrabs were down 9-4 to Flagler Palm Coast when Devon Spicer stepped up to bat in the top of the seventh inning.
Spicer, who tore his ACL in spring football last May, had only made an appearance in four games for Seabreeze prior to the Sandcrabs’ battle with FPC the night of Thursday, March 12.
On the second pitch, Spicer ripped a shot over the center field wall at FPC High School for a solo home run.
“He’s starting to hit his stride,” Seabreeze head coach Jeff Lemon said. “He’s starting to get his timing down.”
The Sandcrabs scored four runs in the inning before the Bulldogs were able to record two outs. With the tying run on first base, Seabreeze captain Jordan Ackerman stepped up to the plate. He was struck out swinging, as the Sandcrabs’ comeback bid fell short 9-8.
“That’s all you can ask for,” Lemon said. “The wheels just kind of fell off.”
