In addition to having about 20 local vendors outside their store, Frame of Mind coordinated the "shop local" effort with most of the businesses on Granada Boulevard from U.S. 1 to A1A.
During a national celebration of shopping local, Shop Small Saturday was in full force in Ormond Beach as 46 businesses on Granada Boulevard from U.S. 1 to A1A opened their doors, many offering discounts or deals, on Nov. 25.
Frame of Mind invited about 20 local vendors, including artists of many forms, for its third Shop Small Saturday celebration. But this was the first year other businesses on Granada Boulevard joined in the “shop local” efforts at their own stores. Bliss Massage Spa and Focus Forward Chiropractic were two of the new additions that Frame of Mind invited to their outdoor market to add more diversity in products and services. Art on Granada also held an outdoor market with artists on display.
Under the umbrella of Ormond Beach MainStreet, Frame of Mind Owner Victoria Jones and Event Coordinator Patty Singer went door to door to businesses on Granada Boulevard in the weeks leading up to Saturday to encourage them to participate in the annual day.
“It’s awesome, just to one-on-one connect,” Jones said. “Because we’re always just stuck in our business, and they’re all stuck in their hours, so it’s nice to physically go to each place and chat it up. We’re all on the same page. We all want to have a good, solid business day.”
Singer said she likes shopping locally because it helps the economy from the ground up.
“We believe that if the small businesses are doing well, then everyone’s doing well,” Singer said.
