Mainland held its first spring football practice on the afternoon of Monday, April 22.
Mainland's football team held its first spring practice on the afternoon of Monday, April 22, at Mainland High School.
D'Andre McMillian showed up, ready to work. But this time was different. McMillian, who starred at running back the past couple of years for the Buccaneers, was no longer a player for Mainland. He was a teacher.
McMillian is set to graduate for Mainland in May. In June, he'll be heading to Murray, Kentucky, for summer football practice at Division I program Murray State.
But on Monday, McMillian was giving back to his former team, instructing the next generation on what it takes to survive as a Buccaneers football player.
“Now I’m on the other side. I get to teach them all that I learned," he said. "They're going to be good next year. They've got a lot of potential."
