U.S. 1 McDonald’s in Ormond Beach thanks first responders
First responders, including the fire and police officers who serve Ormond Beach, attended a special appreciation event sponsored by the McDonald’s restaurant at 1530 U.S. 1 on Saturday, March 25.
Emergency personnel and their families were invited to attend and receive a free lunch, and receive support and thanks from members of the community who rely on their service and dedication.
The restaurant was recently remodeled to include concierge-guided kiosk ordering and a double drive-thru lane.
“Without their service and bravery, we wouldn’t be the wonderful community we are,” said Sugie Riley, owner and operator of the restaurant.
New Executive Director at Family Renew
Tony Deobil has been named executive director for Family Renew.
Deobil most recently served as director of social services for The Salvation Army of East Volusia and Flagler Counties, where he led efforts to eliminate homelessness among veterans in the two-county area and find permanent housing for other men and women living on the streets in Daytona Beach. At Family Renew he will focus on families with children experiencing homelessness in Volusia County.
"I truly believe that homelessness in our community is a solvable challenge," Deobil said. "But it will take organizations like Family Renew Community working together with others to make a difference, one family and one individual at a time."
Deobil is a licensed minister and has extensive experience in social outreach and health care administration.
